Howard T. Cumming oral history, 1963-1964.

In this interview Howard T. Cumming shares his observations of the New York State food processing industry. Topics include: the purchase of a powdered pie pudding business, Good Luck Food Company, from John Kingston; observations of the Curtice Brothers Canning Company, including changes in technology, personnel policies, sales, and quality control; the influence of the American Can Company and the Continental Can Company on the industry; his impressions of Harold Clapp and Clapp's baby foods; the use by the industry of foreign and domestic migrant labor, especially German and Italian prisioners of war during World War II; formation of Curtice-Burns, Inc.; war efforts of the National Canners Association; and his impressions of the New York State Canners and Freezers Association and its leaders. Also includes his impressions of Andrew J. Townson and Douglas C. Townson.

Hungerford Smith Company of Rochester, the Good Luck Food Company (which made dry pie fillings), and with the Curtice Brothers Canning Company.
